Release Agent
Generic 'release agent' on a label provides no information about the specific substance used. Permitted release agents range from food-grade vegetable oils (low concern) to mineral oils and waxes (some less well-characterized).
What it is
A generic functional category of substances applied to food contact surfaces to prevent food from sticking; can include vegetable oils, lecithin, mono- and diglycerides, waxes, or mineral oils.
Lubrication, anti-stick, demolding aid in baking and confection production.
