Red Wine Extract
Red wine extract polyphenols including resveratrol have low oral toxicity and are tolerated up to several grams per day in studies. As with other plant extracts, supplements are not pre-approved for safety/efficacy by FDA.
What it is
Concentrated extract of red wine or red grapes containing polyphenols (anthocyanins, resveratrol, flavonoids).
Source of polyphenols; sometimes used in nutraceuticals and flavoring.
Why it's flagged
- may contain residual sulfites
- drug interactions at high supplement doses
- possible alcohol residue in some preparations
