Paprika Flavouring
Paprika and paprika oleoresin are widely used as natural flavoring and coloring agents. FDA permits paprika oleoresin as an exempt-from-certification color additive under 21 CFR 73.345 used in amounts consistent with good manufacturing practice.
What it is
Flavoring derived from paprika (Capsicum annuum), often as paprika oleoresin (oleoresin paprika), supplying both flavor and color.
Spice flavoring and natural orange-red color.
Why it's flagged
- some products historically associated with Sudan dye adulteration
- potential for added solvents in oleoresin (regulated residual limits)
