Orange Juice
Also known as: acid reduced orange juice
Orange juice is a whole-fruit-derived beverage providing vitamin C and folate. The natural sugar content is a concern relative to whole oranges (less fiber, faster absorption); 100% juice still counts toward sugar intake even though it is not classified as 'added sugar' on the FDA label.
What it is
Juice expressed from oranges (Citrus sinensis), pasteurized; may be from concentrate or not from concentrate.
Beverage; flavor and acid source in formulations.
Why it's flagged
- natural sugar content
- lower satiety than whole fruit
