Mycoprotein
Mycoprotein is FDA-notified GRAS (GRN 091) and approved in the EU and UK. It is high in protein and fiber and is generally well tolerated, but documented IgE-mediated allergic and severe GI reactions have led to mandatory labeling.
What it is
High-protein, high-fiber food made from filamentous fungus Fusarium venenatum grown in continuous fermentation; sold as Quorn.
Meat-analog protein source.
