Hydrolyzed Hemp Seed Protein
Hulled hemp seed and hemp seed protein are GRAS in the US (FDA GRAS Notices GRN 765, 771, 778) when produced from THC-free hemp seed. Generally well-tolerated; main concern is total THC content of unhulled material, which the FDA-recognised GRAS notices restrict to negligible levels.
What it is
Hemp seed protein (Cannabis sativa) broken down into peptides and amino acids by enzymatic or acid hydrolysis.
Plant protein ingredient and flavor enhancer; used in protein powders and plant-based foods.
Why it's flagged
- potential trace THC in unhulled product
