What it is

Vegetable oil that has been chemically processed by adding hydrogen, increasing saturation. Partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) are a primary source of artificial trans fats.

Solidifies oils; extends shelf life; provides texture in baked goods, margarine, and shortenings.
