Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is a wax ester that is poorly absorbed in the human gut and has been associated with steatorrhea when consumed. The hydrogenated form is solid and used in cosmetics.
What it is
Jojoba oil (a liquid wax from Simmondsia chinensis seeds) that has been catalytically hydrogenated to a solid wax.
Cosmetic wax/emollient. Jojoba oil is not digestible (long-chain wax esters); not approved as a direct food fat.
Why it's flagged
- indigestible — can cause steatorrhea if ingested
- not a direct food additive
