Hydrogenated Grapeseed Oil
Partial hydrogenation generates trans fats, which raise LDL cholesterol and cardiovascular risk; FDA banned partially hydrogenated oils as food additives. Fully hydrogenated oils contain mostly saturated fat with negligible trans fat.
What it is
Grapeseed oil that has been hydrogenated to saturate its unsaturated fatty acids, increasing solidity and oxidative stability.
Used as a cosmetic emollient and structuring fat; can be used in some foods as a hard fat.
Why it's flagged
- Trans fat content if partially hydrogenated
