Fulvic Acid
Fulvic acid is sold as a dietary supplement (often as a component of shilajit), but it has no FDA food-additive listing or established ADI. Shilajit/fulvic-acid products have been associated with heavy-metal contamination (lead, arsenic) in commercial samples.
What it is
Fulvic acid is a complex mixture of organic acids found in soil, peat, and sediments (a humic substance).
Marketed in some 'shilajit' and mineral supplements.
Why it's flagged
- heavy-metal contamination risk in commercial supplements
- no FDA food-additive listing
- limited human safety data
