'Fiber' is an umbrella term; FDA defines dietary fiber as carbohydrates with demonstrable physiological benefit (21 CFR 101.9). Adequate intake is associated with health benefits; specific isolated fibers are reviewed individually.

Generic term for indigestible plant carbohydrates (soluble and insoluble), including cellulose, inulin, pectin, etc.
Bulking agent, texturizer, and dietary fiber additive.
