Several FD&C dyes (notably Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6) require warning labels in the EU stating they 'may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.' California has restricted some in school foods. FD&C Red No.
What it is
Umbrella label for synthetic petroleum-derived color additives certified by the FDA under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (e.g., FD&C Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2, Green 3). Bare 'FD&C Colors' hides which specific dyes are used.
