SAIB is a sugar-derived emulsion weighting agent reviewed by FDA, EFSA, and JECFA. FDA permits its use as a stabilizer of flavoring-oil emulsions in non-alcoholic beverages at up to 300 mg/kg per 21 CFR 172.833.
