Non-Amidated Pectines

Non-amidated pectin is a soluble fiber polysaccharide that is essentially non-digested in the small intestine. EFSA and FDA both recognize pectin (E440) as safe with no numerical ADI required.

Non-amidated pectin (E440(i)), a polysaccharide of galacturonic acid extracted from citrus peel or apple pomace; not chemically amidated.
Gelling agent, thickener, stabilizer.

- mild GI effects at unusually high intake (non-specific)
