Tocopherol-Rich Extract

Tocopherol-rich extract (E306) is FDA GRAS and authorized in the EU. EFSA's 2015 re-evaluation concluded no safety concerns at the levels used as food additives, since intake remains below the tolerable upper intake level for vitamin E (300 mg/day adults).
What it is
Tocopherol-rich extract — a natural extract of mixed tocopherols (vitamin E forms) from vegetable oils, used as a natural antioxidant.
Antioxidant; prevents fat oxidation and rancidity.
Why it's flagged
- Very high vitamin E supplementation (>1000 mg/day) increases bleeding risk
- Not at risk from food additive use
