Ascorbyl Palmitate
Also known as: E304i, L-Ascorbyl Palmitate, E304
Ascorbyl palmitate is FDA GRAS and was re-evaluated by EFSA in 2015 and 2020 with no safety concerns at authorized uses, including infant formula. It hydrolyzes in the body to ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and palmitic acid, which enter normal metabolic pathways.
What it is
Ascorbyl palmitate, a fat-soluble ester of vitamin C and palmitic acid (E304(i)).
Antioxidant; prevents oxidation of fats and oils, protecting flavor, color, and nutritional quality.
