Long-chain glycolipids from Dacryopinax spathularia were authorized in the EU as food additive E 246 by Commission Regulation (EU) 2022/1037 following an EFSA safety opinion that established an ADI of 10 mg/kg bw/day. EFSA concluded there is no safety concern at the proposed uses and use levels.

Long-chain glycolipids (E 246) produced by fermentation of the fungus Dacryopinax spathularia.

Preservative in selected non-alcoholic and aromatised beverages.
