Glyceryl Triacetate

Triacetin is approved for direct addition to food and is metabolized to glycerol and acetic acid. EFSA re-evaluated E1518 and concluded there is no safety concern at current levels of use.
What it is
Glyceryl triacetate (triacetin) is the triester of glycerol and acetic acid, used as a humectant, solvent, and carrier for flavors.
Functions as a humectant, plasticizer, and solvent for flavorings; carrier in chewing gum and confectionery.
