What it is
Fungi of the genus Cordyceps (most commonly Cordyceps militaris and Cordyceps sinensis / Ophiocordyceps sinensis), used in traditional East Asian foods and supplements. In commercial food/supplement products it is typically the cultivated mycelium or fruiting body of C. militaris, sold whole, as an extract, or as a powder.
Functional / 'adaptogenic' mushroom ingredient sold for purported energy, stamina, and immune-support effects; also used as a culinary mushroom in some Asian cuisines.
