Colouring Plant Concentrate
Coloring foodstuffs (juice/extract concentrates) used solely for color in EU are regulated as foods, not additives, and considered safe. The generic label provides no specifics, so the actual safety depends on the source plant.
What it is
Generic umbrella term for fruit/vegetable juice concentrates used to impart color (e.g., beetroot, carrot, blackcurrant, hibiscus, paprika, spirulina).
Natural coloring; replaces synthetic dyes (E100 series).
What regulators actually say
"The color additive fruit juice may be safely used to color foods generally, in amounts consistent with good manufacturing practice. Fruit juice consists of the concentrated or unconcentrated liquid expressed from mature varieties of fresh, edible fruits."
