Cider vinegar is a conventional food with no notable safety concerns at typical culinary exposure. Undiluted consumption may erode tooth enamel or irritate the esophagus, but normal food use is safe.

What it is

Vinegar produced by fermentation of apple juice into ethanol and then into acetic acid (typically ~5% acetic acid).

Used as an acidulant, flavoring, and preservative in dressings, sauces, marinades, and beverages.
