Locust bean gum (E410) has been re-evaluated by EFSA and is generally considered safe at typical food use levels. It is permitted in infant formulas.
What it is
Locust bean gum (E410) — a galactomannan polysaccharide extracted from carob (Ceratonia siliqua) seed endosperm.
Thickener, stabilizer, gelling agent.

- may cause GI effects at very high doses
- EFSA uncertainty for infants <16 weeks
