Blue Poppy Seed
Poppy seeds themselves contain no opium alkaloids, but can be contaminated with morphine and codeine residues from the latex during harvest. EFSA has set an acute reference dose of 10 µg morphine/kg bw, and FDA in 2025 announced plans to publish action levels for opiate alkaloids on poppy seeds.
