Thyme Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
PPV Enterprise LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Thyme mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
When you use Thyme, we collect:
- Your email address and name (via Google Sign-In)
- Recipes you create or import (titles, ingredients, steps, times, servings, tags, notes)
- Cookbooks you create (names and descriptions)
- Source URLs you provide for recipe imports
- Photos you upload for recipe parsing
- Device information and error reports (for crash diagnostics)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Thyme app
- Store and display your recipes and cookbooks
- Parse recipes from URLs, text, and photos using AI services
- Diagnose errors and improve app reliability
We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
AI Processing
When you import a recipe, the content you provide (URL, text, or photo) is sent to AI services for parsing. These services extract structured recipe data (ingredients, steps, times, servings) from your input.
- Recipe text and URLs are processed by our self-hosted AI servers (PPV Enterprise LLC infrastructure) and, as a fallback, by Google Gemini.
- Recipe photos are uploaded to our servers, processed by AI, then stored for your use.
- AI services receive only the recipe content you submit — not your account information or other personal data.
- We do not use your recipe content to train AI models.
Third-Party Services
Thyme uses the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob for advertising. Google may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. See: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Gemini for AI-powered recipe parsing (fallback provider). See: https://ai.google.dev/terms
- WorkOS for authentication. See: https://workos.com/privacy
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) for data storage, hosting, and photo storage.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on AWS servers in the United States (us-east-1 region), encrypted at rest. Recipe photos are stored on AWS S3 with server-side encryption. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage.
Data Retention & Deletion
You can delete individual recipes or cookbooks at any time within the app. When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your user profile and email
- All cookbooks and recipes you created
- All recipe photos stored on our servers
- Your authentication credentials
Account deletion is irreversible. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
Recipe Accuracy Disclaimer
Recipe information parsed by AI (including servings, cooking times, temperatures, and ingredient quantities) may contain errors. Always verify critical details — especially cooking temperatures and allergen information — against the original source.
Children's Privacy
Thyme is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data within the app at any time
- Delete any recipes, cookbooks, or other data you have created
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
