Yeast Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. 1 Scald and cool the milk, then add yeast and sugar.
  2. 2 Add shortening and 2 cups flour; beat thoroughly.
  3. 3 Add well-beaten egg, remaining flour, and salt; mix.
  4. 4 Turn out on floured board and knead lightly.
  5. 5 Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 2 hours.
  6. 6 Form into small rounds, place 1 inch apart on greased pan.
  7. 7 Allow to rise for 30 minutes.
  8. 8 Brush with shortening and bake in 425°F oven for 15 minutes.
