Yeast Dinner Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 4 cups flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method
- 1 Scald and cool the milk, then add yeast and sugar.
- 2 Add shortening and 2 cups flour; beat thoroughly.
- 3 Add well-beaten egg, remaining flour, and salt; mix.
- 4 Turn out on floured board and knead lightly.
- 5 Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 2 hours.
- 6 Form into small rounds, place 1 inch apart on greased pan.
- 7 Allow to rise for 30 minutes.
- 8 Brush with shortening and bake in 425°F oven for 15 minutes.
