Whole Wheat French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup large eggs
  • 1/2 cup non-fat (skim) milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 slices whole wheat bread
  • Syrup or other toppings (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Preheat a griddle over medium heat or set an electric frying pan to 375°F.
  2. 2 In a shallow bowl, beat eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well mixed.
  3. 3 Grease the griddle or pan with oil or nonstick spray.
  4. 4 Dip bread slices in the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  5. 5 Cook on the hot griddle for about 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. 6 Serve warm with syrup, applesauce, fruit slices, or jam if desired.
