Whole Wheat Chapati Flatbread
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2/3 cup warm water
- 1 dash vegetable oil
- salt
Method
- 1 In a large bowl, combine flour, warm water, oil, and salt. Mix with a fork, then knead by hand until a dough ball forms.
- 2 Knead the dough for 10 minutes, then let it rest for 30 minutes covered with a damp cloth.
- 3 Divide dough into 6 pieces. Roll each into a thin 7-inch circle.
- 4 Heat a lightly greased cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each chapati for 30 seconds per side until brown spots and bubbles appear.
- 5 Wrap cooked chapatis in a cloth napkin to keep warm. Serve immediately with butter or as a scoop for other dishes.
