Whole Wheat Buttermilk Muffins
Ingredients
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda

- 4 tbsp shortening
- 1 egg
- 3 cups whole-wheat flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
Method
- 1 Combine buttermilk, baking soda, salt, sugar, shortening, egg, flour, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
- 2 Beat the mixture hard to ensure thorough mixing.
- 3 Pour the batter into well-greased muffin pans.
- 4 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 20 minutes.
