Whole Wheat Bread in a Bag
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for kneading
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 3 tablespoons powdered milk
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon rapid-rise yeast
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup warm water (120 to 130°F)
Method
- 1 Combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and powdered milk in a one-gallon resealable freezer bag. Squeeze out air, seal, and shake to blend.
- 2 Add oil and warm water to the bag. Reseal and mix by working the bag with your fingers until the dough is completely mixed and pulls away from the sides.
- 3 Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic, adding flour as needed. Return dough to the bag and let rest for 10 minutes.
- 4 Shape the dough on a greased baking sheet or place in a greased 4x8 inch loaf pan. Cover with a clean cloth or plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in bulk.
- 5 Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 25 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
- 6 Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack or clean dish towel.
