  • 1/2 lb Allinson fine wheatmeal
  • 1 pint milk
  • pepper and salt to taste
  • 1 oz butter

Method

  1. 1 Thoroughly beat the eggs.
  2. 2 Mix in the flour and milk to form a smooth batter.
  3. 3 Season the batter with pepper and salt.
  4. 4 Butter a shallow tin well.
  5. 5 Pour the batter into the tin and scatter bits of butter over the top.
  6. 6 Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. 7 Serve with vegetables, potatoes, and sauce.
