Warm Vanilla Custard Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Rum or brandy (optional)
- Chopped almonds (optional)
Method
- 1 Beat egg yolks and sugar until creamy.
- 2 Pour scalded milk into the yolk mixture.
- 3 Return to heat and cook until slightly thickened, stirring constantly.
- 4 Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- 5 Whip with a wire whisk until light and foamy.
- 6 Serve warm with plum pudding, adding rum or brandy if desired.
