Ingredients

  • 1 cup finely cut bacon
  • 3 cups shredded raw cabbage
  • bacon fat (reserved from frying)
  • vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. 1 Fry the finely cut bacon until crisp, then drain off the fat, reserving it.
  2. 2 Combine the crispy bacon with three times the quantity of shredded raw cabbage.
  3. 3 Make a dressing using the reserved hot bacon fat and vinegar, seasoning to taste.
  4. 4 Pour the hot dressing over the cabbage and set aside to cool.
