Walnut Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, creamed
- 2 cups granulated sugar, sifted
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 cup cold water
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, sifted 4 times
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 2 cups walnuts, chopped
- 4 egg whites, beaten stiff
Method
- 1 Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- 2 Beat in the egg yolks one at a time, then mix in the cold water.
- 3 Combine the flour and cream of tartar, then stir into the wet ingredients.
- 4 Fold in the chopped walnuts, then gently fold in the beaten egg whites.
- 5 Pour into a loaf pan or two layer pans and bake at 350°F for 30-45 minutes.
