Vienna Hot Chocolate With Egg Whites

Ingredients

  • 3 heaping tbsp grated chocolate
  • 4 cups milk
  • Sugar to taste
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method

  1. 1 Mix grated chocolate with a small amount of cold water to form a smooth paste.
  2. 2 Pour the chocolate paste into a double boiler with the boiling milk and sugar.
  3. 3 Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. 4 Beat egg whites to stiff peaks and stir them into the hot chocolate mixture.
  5. 5 Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  6. 6 Serve immediately while hot and frothy.
