Vanilla Bean Pudding With Candied Fruit

Ingredients

  • 1/2 liter milk
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
  • Brown sugar to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (maizena)
  • Candied fruit for garnish

Method

  1. 1 In a saucepan, combine milk and vanilla bean. Heat until simmering, then remove from heat.
  2. 2 Whisk brown sugar and cornstarch into the warm milk until smooth.
  3. 3 Return to low heat and stir constantly until the mixture thickens slightly but remains pourable.
  4. 4 Remove from heat, discard vanilla bean, and pour into a serving dish to cool.
  5. 5 Garnish with candied fruit before serving.
