Two Layer Cake
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups flour
- 2 level tablespoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon flavoring
- 1 cup water or milk
- 2 egg whites
Method
- 1 Place sugar and egg yolks in a bowl and cream together.
- 2 Add shortening and cream again until well combined.
- 3 Mix in flour, baking powder, flavoring, and water or milk.
- 4 Beat just enough to mix, then fold in the egg whites.
- 5 Pour into greased and floured deep layer-cake pans.
- 6 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 20 minutes.
