Two Egg Sponge Cake

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 2 egg whites

Method

  1. 1 Place ¾ cup sugar and 2 egg yolks in a mixing bowl and cream well.
  2. 2 Add 4 tablespoons water, 1 cup flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Beat to mix.
  3. 3 Cut and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  4. 4 Pour into a well-greased and floured cake pan.
  5. 5 Bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 35 minutes.
