Traditional Milk Caramel Custard
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups milk
- 6 tablespoons sugar (for caramel)
Method
- 1 Beat eggs, 6 tablespoons sugar, salt, and vanilla in a bowl.
- 2 Scald milk, then slowly pour into egg mixture while stirring constantly.
- 3 Melt 6 tablespoons sugar in a baking dish until brown. Pour custard over caramel.
- 4 Place dish in a pan of hot water. Bake at 300°F for 45 minutes until set.
- 5 Cool completely, then invert onto a serving dish.
