  • 1 lb inferior cuts of meat (e.g., lamb or beef)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 6 medium onions, peeled
  • Water, enough to cover meat
  • Potatoes, peeled and split, as needed

Method

  1. 1 Cut meat into egg-sized pieces and rub well with salt and pepper.
  2. 2 Place meat in a large pot with peeled onions and enough water to cover.
  3. 3 Bring to a gentle boil and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  4. 4 Add peeled, split potatoes and boil briskly until potatoes are tender.
