Tomato And Onion Sauce
Ingredients
- fresh or tinned tomatoes
- water
- finely chopped onions
- Allinson fine wheatmeal
- water (for paste)
- butter
- pepper
- salt
Method
- 1 Cut up fresh or tinned tomatoes and cook with water and finely chopped onions until tender.
- 2 Rub the cooked mixture through a sieve to remove skins and seeds.
- 3 Boil the strained sauce again and thicken with wheatmeal made into a paste with water.
- 4 Stir in butter, pepper, and salt to taste. Serve with vegetables or savory dishes.
