Sweet And Sour Red Cabbage With Apples
Ingredients
- 1 red cabbage, sliced very fine
- Salt, for sprinkling
- 1 sour apple, peeled and sliced
- 1 tablespoon pork drippings
- 1 onion, chopped
- Water, as needed
- Vinegar, to taste
- Brown sugar, to taste
- Cinnamon, to taste
Method
- 1 Slice the red cabbage very fine and sprinkle with salt. Add the peeled and sliced sour apple.
- 2 Heat the drippings in a pot, add the chopped onion, and sauté briefly. Add the cabbage mixture and enough water to prevent burning.
- 3 Stew slowly until the cabbage is tender, stirring occasionally.
- 4 Season with vinegar, brown sugar, and cinnamon to taste before serving.
