Sultana Buns With Sugar Glaze

Ingredients

  • 16 oz flour
  • 0.5 oz yeast
  • 0.5 pint milk
  • 2 oz sugar
  • 2 oz sultanas
  • 2 oz butter
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 oz sugar
  • 0.25 cup water

Method

  1. 1 Mix yeast with tepid milk. Stir into 10 oz flour and beat for 5 minutes. Let rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
  2. 2 Beat in remaining flour, sultanas, sugar, butter, and egg. Let rise for 2 more hours.
  3. 3 Form into buns. Place on a floured baking sheet and let rise for 10 minutes.
  4. 4 Bake in a very hot oven (425°F) for 5 minutes until nicely colored.
  5. 5 Boil 0.5 oz sugar with 0.25 cup water. Brush buns with syrup to glaze.
