Sugar Glazed Sweet Yeast Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, scalded
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cake compressed yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Flour
  • Sugar dissolved in milk for brushing
  • Dry sugar for sprinkling

Method

  1. 1 Make a sponge using the scalded milk, salt, and yeast. Let it bubble.
  2. 2 Add butter, sugar, and well-beaten eggs to the sponge.
  3. 3 Stir in enough flour to form a soft dough.
  4. 4 Knead the dough for 20 minutes.
  5. 5 Let rise until doubled in bulk, then mold into half-egg-sized balls.
  6. 6 Place balls close together in a baking tin and let rise until very light.
  7. 7 Brush tops with sugar dissolved in milk and sprinkle with dry sugar.
  8. 8 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for about 30 minutes.
