Sugar Glazed Sweet Yeast Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk, scalded
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ cake compressed yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Flour
- Sugar dissolved in milk for brushing
- Dry sugar for sprinkling
Method
- 1 Make a sponge using the scalded milk, salt, and yeast. Let it bubble.
- 2 Add butter, sugar, and well-beaten eggs to the sponge.
- 3 Stir in enough flour to form a soft dough.
- 4 Knead the dough for 20 minutes.
- 5 Let rise until doubled in bulk, then mold into half-egg-sized balls.
- 6 Place balls close together in a baking tin and let rise until very light.
- 7 Brush tops with sugar dissolved in milk and sprinkle with dry sugar.
- 8 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for about 30 minutes.
