Sugar And Milk Scones
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 to ½ cup milk
Method
- 1 Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
- 2 Add shortening and rub in lightly until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3 Beat eggs until light, then add milk. Pour this mixture slowly into the dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
- 4 Roll out the dough on a floured board to ½ inch thick. Cut into 3-inch squares and fold each corner to the center to make triangles.
- 5 Brush scones with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for about 25 minutes.
