Strawberry Shortcake With Whipped Cream

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 pints strawberries
  • 1 cup whipped cream

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour with baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. 2 Cut in Crisco with a knife.
  3. 3 Add well-beaten egg and milk to form a soft dough.
  4. 4 Roll dough into two layers and place in greased pans.
  5. 5 Bake in a 425°F oven until light brown.
  6. 6 Mash one cup of strawberries with sugar and spread on bottom layer.
  7. 7 Top with second biscuit layer.
  8. 8 Spread remaining sweetened strawberries on top.
  9. 9 Cover with whipped cream and decorate with whole strawberries.
