Strawberry Shortcake With Whipped Cream
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup Crisco
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 pints strawberries
- 1 cup whipped cream
Method
- 1 Sift flour with baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- 2 Cut in Crisco with a knife.
- 3 Add well-beaten egg and milk to form a soft dough.
- 4 Roll dough into two layers and place in greased pans.
- 5 Bake in a 425°F oven until light brown.
- 6 Mash one cup of strawberries with sugar and spread on bottom layer.
- 7 Top with second biscuit layer.
- 8 Spread remaining sweetened strawberries on top.
- 9 Cover with whipped cream and decorate with whole strawberries.
