  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 4 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 quart strawberries, hulled
  • 2 tablespoons syrup
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup strawberries
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  1. 1 Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together.
  2. 2 Rub in shortening lightly with fingertips.
  3. 3 Add water slowly to form a stiff dough.
  4. 4 Roll out dough and line a pie plate, folding edges over.
  5. 5 Bake in a 425°F oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
  6. 6 Brush edges with boiling syrup (syrup and water) and bake 1-2 minutes to harden.
