Strained Split Pea And Potato Soup

Ingredients

  • 2 oz split peas
  • 3 oz potatoes, cut into pieces
  • 1 piece celery
  • 1 slice Spanish onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toast slices for serving

Method

  1. 1 Pick over and wash the split peas, then soak them in water overnight.
  2. 2 In the morning, place peas in a pot with the potatoes, celery, and onion. Cook until quite tender.
  3. 3 Rub the mixture through a sieve back into the saucepan.
  4. 4 Season with salt and pepper, adding a little water if needed. Boil up and serve with toast sippets.
