Ingredients

  • 1 cup soaked lentils
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup tomato juice
  • 1 onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 24 peppercorns
  • A pinch of mixed herbs
  • 1 ounce flour
  • 1 ounce butter

Method

  1. 1 Simmer lentils with peppercorns, herbs, and sliced onion for 20 minutes.
  2. 2 Add tomato juice and salt; simmer for another 20 minutes.
  3. 3 Strain the mixture, then thicken with flour and butter.
