Strained Fruit Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup crushed fresh fruit
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons water

Method

  1. 1 Combine fruit, brown sugar, and 1 cup water in a saucepan.
  2. 2 Cook over medium heat until fruit is soft, then cool slightly.
  3. 3 Rub the mixture through a fine sieve to remove skins/seeds.
  4. 4 Whisk cornstarch with 3 tablespoons water until smooth.
  5. 5 Return strained liquid to heat, stir in cornstarch mixture.
  6. 6 Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes until thickened.
