Stovetop English Muffins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot milk
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 ½ lb white flour
  • flour for dusting

Method

  1. 1 Dissolve the yeast in a little tepid water.
  2. 2 Mix the hot milk and water into the flour, then add the yeast mixture when lukewarm.
  3. 3 Beat the batter vigorously for 10-15 minutes until it forms a soft dough.
  4. 4 Cover and let the dough rise overnight.
  5. 5 Flour a board, drop large spoonfuls of dough, and flatten into rounds.
  6. 6 Let the muffins rise in a warm place until light.
  7. 7 Bake on a lightly heated griddle for 6 minutes per side until done.
