Stovetop English Muffins
Ingredients
- 1 cup hot milk
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 ½ lb white flour
- flour for dusting
Method
- 1 Dissolve the yeast in a little tepid water.
- 2 Mix the hot milk and water into the flour, then add the yeast mixture when lukewarm.
- 3 Beat the batter vigorously for 10-15 minutes until it forms a soft dough.
- 4 Cover and let the dough rise overnight.
- 5 Flour a board, drop large spoonfuls of dough, and flatten into rounds.
- 6 Let the muffins rise in a warm place until light.
- 7 Bake on a lightly heated griddle for 6 minutes per side until done.
